Thank you for venturing into this region of the Marion County Republicans' web site. All blogs hosted here use Lyceum, a massively-scalable blogging services system based on WordPress.

It is our goal to create a community for Republican voters, activists, and leaders wherein we can energetically discuss issues, encourage action, and otherwise challenge the liberal mindset that weakens this state. Be assured, however, this site is monitored; anyone posting material, whether in comments to a blog or in one's own blog, that the admin deems offensive will be warned, blocked, and/or removed from the roll. There are plenty of other sites that more or less welcome that kind of conversation.

Calling All RINOs

from Keizer-406 by Davis (27 June)

How many times have you and I disparaged a Republican elected official for casting a vote or issuing a proposal with which you strongly disagree with the label "Republican in name only (RINO)"? I no longer find this term humorous or appropriate and I vow here and now never to use this term again to describe any Republican. That is not to say I will fully support — let alone vigorously campaign for — any and all candidates who paste the letter "R" behind their names. Nor does that mean I will blithely and blindly agree with all actions/votes of Republican elected officials. It does mean that I will always do my best to separate my set of conservative principles from my loyalty to the Republican party and its people. Read More>

Tax Update: Now Liberals Want $1.12 Billion More in Taxes!"

from Joe American by Dave (channeling Russ Walker, Freedomworks) (09 June)

I just wanted to quickly update you on the tax bills being voted on this week in Salem. The total number has gone from $800 million to more than $1.12 billion in new taxes! Legislators are hearing from you, the taxpayers, but we need to turn up the heat on them NOW!

Liberals in the Oregon legislature are poised to ram through three different tax hike bills this week, carrying a total price tag of $1.12 billion!

Hello, My Fellow Americans

from Joe American by Dave (09 June)

Hi, I am Dave Candlish, a newby in the world of politics in regards to being active. As a lifelong Californian, I have had the luxury of educational radio over the last 30 years listening to Dennis Prager and Hugh Hewitt live as they broadcast on KRLA, an historic Los Angeles radio station. Between them and Sean Hannity I have been well informed on the background of the then Senator Obama and the disapointing performance of the Republican Party. Read More>

Conservative in Republican's Clothing

from Keizer-406 by Davis (09 May)

I am a conservative. I am also a Republican. I am proud of both associations. Funny thing — when I identify myself to someone I am meeting for the first time as one (conservative or Republican), the new acquaintance, almost without thinking, typically makes the leap to brand me the other. This connection is funny because had I so identified myself this way thirty years ago, people would have been shocked at the incongruity. Read More>

Oregon is 150

from Keizer-406 by Davis (14 February)

Whereas most people at the Capitol today to join the celebration of Oregon's sesquicentennial might have been exclaiming, "Look how far we've come", after spending about two hours with Vaughn Longanecker, founder of Christian Heritage Ministries of the Northwest, on a tour emphasizing the heritage of faith in the Pacific Northwest, I am thinking, "Look how far we've fallen". Read More>

Compete not Censor

from Keizer-406 by Davis (06 February)

When it comes to radio, I favor AM talk. If wing-nut Democrat liberals have their way, I may not have that venue much longer. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), in an interview yesterday asserted, "I think it's absolutely time to pass a standard." When asked whether the Senate would convene hearings on the matter, she stated, "I have already had some discussions with colleagues, and, you know, I feel like that's going to happen. Yep." Read More>

Still Blogging Away

from Keizer-406 by Davis (05 February)

The photograph is stunning. The massive mesas and towers of Monument Valley in the early afternoon sun. One could almost miss the tiny figure of a man atop a viewpoint outcrop of rock to the side in the foreground, sitting with his laptop, presumably flailing madly away on the keyboard trying to put into words the majestic panorama before him. Read More>

Class vs. Crass

from Keizer-406 by Davis (21 January)

As I have listened to the conservative talk radio hosts featured on KYKN — particularly Hugh Hewitt and Dennis Prager (the ones I get to hear in the evening, after work) — I have been impressed with the consistency of the high respect paid to the new president while giving appropriate criticism of the ideas President Obama expressed in his speech. Read More>
